Become A Mentor
hireAnewGrad Mentorship Program is designed to provide mentors and their protégés with a mutually rewarding experience. Mentors gain the personal satisfaction of contributing positively towards the development of tomorrow's leaders, as they provide valuable insight into the "real world" of working. As a mentor you can:
- Extend beyond your personal success by assisting
enthusiastic grads/students who value and are eager
to learn from your expertise
- Benefit from exposure to protégés who can provide fresh perspectives
- Help new grads/students to avoid the pitfalls typical
of newcomers to the workforce
- Benefit from the opportunity to network with other
successful mentors
- Receive a higher profile for yourself and your business
through association with this program
- Help build a more prosperous and vibrant
community
Here is How It Works
- Interested Mentors can contact hireAnewGrad and
provide information about their field of employment,
job function and type of protégé they would like to
assist. This is done by contacting us directly at
416-431-4999 or sending an email to sandra@hireanewgrad.com
with the subject heading of Mentor.
- Graduates/students would also provide their own
profile/resume to hireAnewGrad indicating the type
of industry/career of their interest
- hireAnewGrad will then match the grad/student with
the appropriate mentor. The information is then passed
on to the appropriate mentor who is responsible for
contacting the protégé via email
Mentor Responsibility
- You will provide career related information and
guidance to the new grad/student for an assigned period
of time
- hireAnewGrad will send you the résumé of the grad/student
for your review and approval
- Contact the new grad/student within two weeks
- At the end of mentoring period, please offer suggestions
that would improve the hireAnewGrad Mentorship Program
MENTOR/PROTÉGÉ (GRAD/STUDENT) GUIDELINES
The following guidelines serve to protect the rights
of both the Mentor and the Protégé while ensuring a
mutually rewarding experience for both parties.
Assistance
A mentor can provide assistance and access to resources.
Please note that their contributions serve as opinions
only. Advice and information provided by the Mentor
may be used in any manner the Protégé
deems appropriate. However it should not be used as
a substitute for the Protégé's own discretion
in making personal or professional decisions. In particular,
this advice and information should not be used as a
substitute for professional advice. This includes legal
counsel or advice from accountants, tax advisors, or
other professionals who act on behalf of the Protégé.
The Mentor, therefore, will not be held responsible
for liabilities incurred by the Protégé
should the Protégé choose to rely on the
advice or information provided by the Mentor.
Communication
If a conflict arises, the Mentor and Protégé agree to abide by the hireAnewGrad guidelines for Conflict Resolution. They also agree to contact the Mentorship Coordinator for closure and comments purposes, within one week of the end of contract. Should the Mentor or Protégé find herself unable to follow through with the terms of this agreement, he/she must contact the Mentorship Coordinator within five (5) days of such knowledge.
It is advised that email communication is used as the main mode of communication between the Mentor and Protégé.
Knowledge of Processes
The Mentor and Protégé have read and understand all the hireAnewGrad documentation on the Mentorship program and will keep abreast of any changes to the program by frequently visiting the hireAnewGrad website and reading all correspondence sent to them by the Mentorship Coordinator.
